An elegant hotel just 300 meters, a 5-minute walk, from the Masjid al-Haram, Anjum Hotel is an excellent 5-star hotel. It is famous for its spacious garden area, uncommon in other hotels. The garden is a popular place to relax.
The hotel has a wide dining area and restaurants with cuisine tailored to the tastes of its customers’ countries. The abundance of elevators, a magnificent open buffet for breakfast and dinner, and a good price-performance ratio make it a preferred choice. You can choose this hotel in the off-season with prices starting from $135 per night.
Formerly known as Hilton and later used as Millennium Hotel Makkah, it is now simply referred to as Mecca Hotel and Mecca Towers. Although it is one of the oldest hotels, it remains one of the closest and best options to the Masjid al-Haram. Keep in mind that it needs a good renovation.
It takes about 4 minutes to enter the hotel from the Grand Mosque. Makkah Hotel has a large sitting lounge, and Makkah Towers have a mini kitchen for families who want to cook. Guests in November 2023 still seem satisfied with the price/quality balance. It is a great option, especially for the elderly. You don’t need to cross the road, and it is less crowded than Zamzam Tower/Clock Tower. Prices start from around $100 per night.
Address Jabal Omar Mecca
The Jabal Omar Hotel in Mecca, part of the world-famous Address Hotels chain, is one of the best hotels opened in 2023.
In the off-season, prices start from $180 per night. You can choose this hotel within walking distance. They offer services such as a free crib/infant bed and free accommodation for up to 2 children. Jabal Omar Marriott Hotel also has a 24-hour open restaurant called The Oasis.
Hilton Suites, before many new hotels opened in Zamzam Tower, was one of the best hotels in Mecca.
It still maintains its good location. It is just behind the Intercontinental Mecca and only about a 3-minute walk to the Haram, making it very suitable for wheelchair access. The rooms have a convenient small kitchenette for families. In the less busy off-season, you can find rooms for around $160 per night.
Hilton Mecca Convention Center
Hilton Makkah Convention Center is especially one of the best options for Elite Hilton members.
The hotel is a bit further away, about an 8-minute walk compared to Hilton Suites Mecca, but it also offers a shuttle that will take you to the street just below Hilton Suites. This is advantageous, especially for small children and the elderly. The facility is new and very large, providing a magnificent view of the Grand Mosque. Prices at Hilton Convention Mecca start from $100 per night in the less busy season. Although the slope is a bit steep, it is manageable with a baby stroller if you are going for Umrah with a baby.

One of the oldest and first hotels in Mecca is the Intercontinental Dar Al Tawhid, one of the hotels closest and quickest to reach the Masjid al-Haram.
It can literally be considered within the courtyard area of the Masjid al-Haram. It is not a 5-star hotel by Western standards but is the best choice if you are looking for convenience and speed. If you are an IHG elite and can take advantage of the property’s benefits, it is definitely worth it. You can join the congregation for prayers with the mosque connected to the Grand Mosque. It is a 2-minute walk to the Masjid al-Haram. Intercontinental Dar Al Tawhid prices start from $200 per night.
Pullman Zamzam Tower – 5-star – Mecca
Located just a few meters from the Masjid al-Haram, Pullman Zamzam Makkah offers services with luxury studios and suites. The hotel has a restaurant with city and Kaaba views.
The Masjid-I Haram is 100 meters away. Some rooms have panoramic views of the Masjid al-Haram/Kaaba. You can choose this hotel in the off-season with prices starting from $250. Enjoy breakfast at the open buffet. You can also taste gourmet meals served in the hotel’s restaurant for lunch and dinner.
Four Points by Sheraton Makkah Al Naseem
This luxury hotel is located in the business district of Mecca and has 1136 modern rooms.
The rooms of Four Points by Sheraton Makkah Al Naseem are spacious, allowing you to stay comfortably with your children. Solve the distance with 24-hour service to the Haram and easy taxi finding. The balance of price, quality, and service is very good.
Fairmont Mecca
Fairmont Makkah is located in the Clock Tower and has great rooms if you are looking for a magnificent view of the Kaaba. It is part of the Fairmont Accor Hotel. If you have Le Club Accor Hotels points, you can take advantage of the benefits. Depending on the season, you will need to pay an additional $50-$100 for rooms with a Kaaba view. Prices start from $200 per night, and in some less busy seasons, they start from $200 per night. You can join the congregation for prayers with the mosque connected to the Grand Mosque. It is a 4-minute walk to the Masjid al-Haram.
If the budget is not important to you and you want a magnificent view, excellent service, and beautiful rooms, then you should check out the Raffles Hotel in Mecca.
With rooms starting from $380 per night in the off-season, it is not considered cheap, but all the reviews are great. Still, be careful with elevators and the number of people entering the mall, as guests do not appreciate the traffic management difficulties in the hotel and shopping mall.
Marriott Makkah, again in the Jabal Omar complex, is a bit further from Hilton Convention Makkah, so you can walk down or use their free shuttles. All these services drop you just outside Hilton Suites, and it only takes a few minutes, and then you have a 5-minute walk to the Haram.
The only problem with this hotel is that it is on a hill, so you may find the uphill ramp a bit tiring when you return, but they offer a bus service if you don’t want to walk.
A new hotel located in the Jabal Omar Development is Doubletree Makkah.
The hotel is just behind Marriott and Hilton Convention, and you can walk there, but they also provide a shuttle bus. If you are young, you can walk, but the services are comfortable and fast, and it doesn’t take too long. It is a more luxurious version than the normal Doubletree style. The hotel does not have an executive lounge. It may be considered expensive, starting from $260 per night.
Shaza Makkah
A 5-star luxury hotel near the Masjid al-Haram with 251 types of rooms and suites, Shaza Makkah is a massive and magnificent hotel. 
It is one of the most preferred hotels for families with children in Mecca. There is a children’s play area on the 5th floor. You can leave your child alone from the age of 4. It is a 5-minute walk to the Masjid al-Haram. The only disadvantage is that the hotel is located on a small hill, so you may find the uphill ramp a bit tiring when you return, but they offer a bus service if you don’t want to walk.
Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency Mecca
It is an easy location for the elderly, a 5-minute walk to the Haram. The hotel is five stars. Prices are reasonable, and you can find advantageous options starting from $200 per night in the off-season.
Conrad Mecca
Located 5 minutes away from the Haram, it is an easy location for the elderly or those with children; you just need to cross the road. If you need a wheelchair, you have to go to the Kaaba through Hilton Suites, which is in the same development. Since Hilton Suites and Conrad are in the same chain and the same development, you can use your Hilton discount, and you can find rooms for around $130 per night.
The opening of many new luxury hotels in Mecca aims to provide better service to Umrah travelers and brings standardization and competition. Prices have dropped, and the quality of service and rooms has increased, which is great for customers. However, if your budget is limited, you can choose hotels a bit further away with different options that provide better value for your money.
